...firstly ah forgot to mention our very own ray of sunshine and occasional member, Brecky, a globetrotting playboy who would turn up now an again when his jet settin lifestyle would allow it ;D. 2007 ,the 9th WG, would turn out to b our very own annus horribils,as her maj would say. The club itself was on a bit of an upturn with Wullie(aka Willie for those in the east ;D ), Jeck an Baz joinin us on scooters, however, that was probably the only thing that was good about it The year started with the news that we were to have our very own scooter parts dealer in the area ..good news...or was it Time would prove otherwise but more of that l8r. The rally date was set for 1st weekend in August and we got a band booked early..Setting Sons, a punkish tribute band from the Edinburgh area. This wasnt to happen though as they had to cancel a week beforehand due to illness. The guy involved sadly died soon after. Ah think we did look for another band but no luck.(tbh..ah cant much b f****d with bands at scooter rallies, nobody complained, infact in all mah years on the gate at WG only 1 person ever asked if a band was playin let alone who they were ) .Anyway ,the big problem with 07 was the weather leading up to it which resulted in the field no bein cut until 10 days before despite repeated assurances it would b done. This coincided with the distillery closing their campsite, meanin the chunk of the field they usually mowed wasnt, them spreading slurry on it in the winter f*****g great parts of it up and a sort of general feelin theyd rather we werent there(ah actually got on really well with the owner, it was jst that their use for the distillery was changing greatly and we were a worry he could do without). Back to the field, it was only a phone call from Dav to the little bstrd who was meant to cut it that made him do it...only for the distillery to phone me 2 days later to c if ah knew anyone wanting a cut field o grass The wee nutse had decided he didnt want it Luckily mah owl da is a farmer an stayed just a couple mile away, so we managed to clear the field by midnight that night..but what a state it was . All we could do was hope for the best..it got mowed again 2 or 3 days before but still no nice The rally duly arrived, terrible weather with it. But...ah think the rally itself was pretty good, the marquee on the Friday nite bein mah highlight from all of them(what an atmosphere, as a storm raged outside ;D), an the do on Saturday bein as good as any. On the down side it started rainin on sat nite about 10 an continued til Monday What a day the Sunday was..hellish to drive home in..an ah was in a motor! Due to the conditions a great many tents were left, but luckily we were approached by Wigtown girl guides who asked if they could get them...aye ;D(although this led to a bit of a problem ) The Monday after the rally always saw us down to take the marquee down an take the rubbish to the tip..but this year the mq was so wet we decided to leave it up to dry out..big mistake... ah phoned mah father to go down an check it at nite...the f**ker had only gone an blown down what an expensive mess Thats that we thought, over for another year...oh no..Tuesday nite ah was at home watchin the Gers when they were still allowed to play in Europe when ah got a phone call from Mr TonyNotman, aka The Monk aka Cpt Pugwash, the dealer ahve previously mentioned, and the owner of a house wi lino on the walls .. wonderin where the tents were..gone, says I,.There followed a rant from him about how hed told me he was coming back for some( ) an he wanted them..then put the phone down Phoned him straight back an gave him a rant ;D He then went on the Animals website an put on a character assasination of me which was about the same length as this drivel ahm writin(never read it personally...too embarrased ;D). ...an all this from a man who ah had worked for , puttin a fence up that was £1700 cheaper than his other quote! We were to meet again a month later at a LCGB rally at New Galloway, although ah got the distinct impression he wasnt pleased to c me ;D(Wullie got him back by keepin his tools when hed stopped to help him on the way home ;D). This increased interest in the club saw us puttin on our 1st do for a while at the end o October, an a cracker it was, great turnout, enjoyed by all. So good, infact ,that we decided to go for a christmas do, again a great success ;D right, ahve got a dog to walk but ahl leave u with this...Craig Whyte..liar ,cheat an a conman....ahm not expectin to b hearin from his lawyers..they may b busy ;D
